Dating safely on NextDate

What we do inside the app

• Face check on your first photo. An on-device check confirms a real human face before the photo goes on your profile, which keeps out blank and obviously fake accounts.
• Automated bio moderation. Every bio passes a content-safety check before publication, so harassment, solicitation and abusive text never go live.
• Block, report and unmatch are available from the profile, the chat and the match list. Blocking is instant and mutual.
• Matches expire. A match that gets no reply disappears on its own within 24–48 hours, so nobody is left in an open-ended exchange they didn't want.
• Virtual dates. Video calls happen inside NextDate, so you never have to share a phone number or personal link to get on a call.
• Location is approximate. Other people see a distance, never your coordinates or address.
• 18+ only. Accounts found to belong to minors are removed.

Staying safe while chatting

• Keep it in the app at first. There's no rush to move to WhatsApp or Instagram. Someone pushing hard to move off the app early is a signal worth noticing.
• Never send money. Not for an emergency, a flight, a medical bill, a customs fee, or an "investment opportunity". This is the single most common scam on every dating platform, and the story is always urgent and always convincing.
• Protect your details. Your full name, workplace, home address, bank details, Aadhaar or PAN number and OTPs are never needed by a match. No legitimate person will ask for an OTP.
• Watch for inconsistencies. Refusing a video call, photos that look like a model portfolio, a story that shifts, or a profile that moves to declarations of love within days — take these seriously.
• Reverse-search a photo if something feels off. It takes ten seconds and catches a lot.
• Trust the discomfort. You never owe anyone a reply, an explanation, or a second chance. Unmatch without guilt.

Meeting in person

• Have a virtual date first. Ten minutes on video tells you more than a week of texting.
• Meet in a public place — a busy café or restaurant — for the first few dates. Not their home, not yours, not a secluded location.
• Tell someone. Share who you're meeting, where, and when you expect to be home. Send them the profile.
• Arrange your own transport both ways, so you can leave whenever you want.
• Stay with your drink. Don't accept drinks you didn't watch being poured, and don't leave yours unattended.
• Keep your phone charged and carry enough money to get home independently.
• Leave if you want to leave. You don't need a good excuse. "I'm going to head off" is a complete sentence.

Reporting someone

Open their profile or your chat with them, tap the menu, and choose Report. Tell us what happened — the more specific you are, the faster we can act. Reports are confidential; the person reported is not told who reported them.

You can also email safety@nextdate.in with screenshots. We review every report, and we remove accounts for harassment, scams, explicit content sent without consent, fake profiles and underage users.
